Warning: This article contains massive spoilers for Power Rangers Cosmic Fury. If you do not wish to be spoiled, come back at a later date.

The Illuminerdi can exclusively reveal that Power Rangers Cosmic Fury will be the first season in the history of Power Rangers to feature an Orange Ranger. The Orange Ranger will not be a stranger to those who have already seen Dino Fury seasons 1 and 2 as it will be Fern. Fern was first introduced in the first season of Dino Fury as a rival to Izzy, the Green Ranger. Later the two grow to have feelings for each other and became girlfriends.

Throughout both seasons, we see their relationship develop and eventually, Fern learns that Izzy is the Green Ranger near the end of Dino Fury season 2. Eventually, Fern leaves for college while Izzy stays to be a Ranger, but the two stay together.

Now we have learned that Fern will be joining the Cosmic Fury Rangers as the seventh member of the team. Fern will appear as the Orange Ranger in the third episode of the season to help the Rangers in space. Fern will continue to be a main character throughout the rest of the season. We currently do not have information as to how she will gain her powers or meet the other Rangers in space.

History of Orange Rangers In Power Rangers

While Fern will be the first official Orange Ranger in the history of Power Rangers, there have been a few special cases over the years of Orange Rangers that have appeared in the comics or unofficially in the show.

The first instance of an Orange Ranger in Power Rangers was in the 13th season of the show S.P.D. During the episode “Boom,” the Rangers’ Chief Gadget Tester dreams about becoming the Orange Ranger. We even get to see this Orange Ranger in action; however, it was only in a dream sequence.

The second instance is also in Power Rangers S.P.D. when the Rangers’ technical support, Kat Manx, temporarily became the Kat Ranger. Kat’s color classification has been debated amongst fans for years, with fans making cases for her being either a White or Orange Ranger. Once again, this was just a one-off appearance.

In the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comics, there have been a couple of instances of Orange Rangers appearing. In a short story featured in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers 2016 Annual, Bulk and Skull temporarily become Rangers after the actual Rangers disappear. During this, Skull becomes the Orange Ranger but loses his powers once the other Ranger return.

In the “Beyond the Grid” storyline, the Solar Rangers are introduced. After the Solar Rangers defeat Praetor, the Purple Solar Ranger’s girlfriend, Remi, joins the team as the Orange Solar Ranger. Remi would go on to appear in subsequent Power Rangers comics, usually only in major events.

That brings us to today, where we will finally have our first official Orange Ranger with Fern. It will be interesting to see her interact with the other Cosmic Fury Rangers when the season air exclusively on Netflix in Fall 2023.

Power Rangers Cosmic Fury stars Russell Curry as Zayto the Zenith Ranger, Hunter Deno as Amelia Jones the Red Ranger, Kai Moya as Ollie Akana the Blue Ranger, Tessa Rao as Izzy Garcia the Green Ranger, Chance Perez as Javi Garcia the Black Ranger, Jordon Fite as Aiyon the Gold Ranger, and Jacqueline Joe as Fern the Orange Ranger.
