The upcoming Part 3 of the final season will be split into two halves. The announcement also featured a release date for the first half of Part 3. The first half will debut on March 4 in Japan. The second half will air later this year. The episode will debut on March 4 at 12:25 AM Japan time on NHK General. Details on the US broadcast and streaming details have not yet been announced.

Yuichiro Hayashi is returning to direct Part 3 for Studio MAPPA. It’s almost hard to believe the anime debuted almost 10 years ago in June 2013. And now, in the 10th anniversary of the anime’s debut, the series will reach its conclusion.

The anime series is based on the dark fantasy manga series of the same name created by Hajime Isayama. The manga series debuted in the pages of Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine and began its serialization in September 2009. Isayama concluded his storyline with the manga series in April 2021.

Attack on Titan The Final Season

The anime series is set in a world where the last remnants of humanity were forced to retreat behind the walls of a fortified city to escape massive, man-eating creatures called Titans that roamed outside the city walls. Only the Scouting Legion members were brave enough to go beyond the walls and seldom returned alive. The story follows a band of survivors that have but one choice: Kill or be devoured.

Part 3 of The Final Season looks like it will be another intense, emotional ride, and the new preview video teases the Final Titan. The show has been on quite the journey, and Attack on Titan has developed into quite the franchise, with live-action film adaptations.

Back in 2018, it was reported by Variety that IT director Andy Muschietti was working on a live-action film adaptation of Attack on Titan for Hollywood. It doesn’t seem there has been much movement on the project in that time, but that might be because live-action anime and manga adaptations are difficult, and there have been very few success stories where Hollywood is concerned. Case in point: the recent Netflix adaptation of the seminal anime series, Cowboy Bebop.

Netflix also has a live-action version of One Piece in the works, but the final product has not yet been revealed. But maybe anime and manga will have their Hollywood version of Iron Man or The Last of Us at some point.
