Two major names are returning to The Flash for the show’s final season. As reported by Deadline, David Ramsey is back as John Diggle, aka Spartan, and Keiynan Lonsdale is back as Wally West, aka Kid Flash, in Season 9 for the hit CW show.

Besides the two legacy characters, another major villain will be back from a previous season. Additionally, Sendhil Ramamurthy will be back as a guest star in Season 9 as the villain Ramsey Rosso, aka Bloodwork.

ICONIC CAST MEMBERS RETURNING FOR THE FLASH SEASON 9

Ramsey has appeared as Diggle for 10 episodes of The Flash beginning with the first season. The character originated on CW’s Arrow series, appearing in every season for a total of 170 episodes. Diggle also appeared in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, and Superman & Lois for multiple episodes.

Speaking on the return of Ramsey as Diggle, showrunner Eric Wallace commented to Deadline, “As one of the legacy Arrowverse characters who helped start it all, John Diggle holds a special place in our hearts, as well as the fans.”

Lonsdale joined The Flash in Season 2. For the purposes of the series, Wally West was adapted as the brother of Iris West and the son of Joe West. Over the course of the show, Lonsdale’s Wally became a speedster hero as well, Kid Flash, and has appeared in a total of 45 episodes, appearing as a series regular in Seasons 2 and 3. Lonsdale was also a recurring guest character in the later fourth and fifth seasons.

Wallace also reportedly added on the return of Lonsdale as Kid Flash, “We’re so happy to reunite with the incredibly talented Keiynan Lonsdale as a part of The Flash’s final season. Because Kid Flash isn’t just another speedster—he’s a beloved part of our Team Flash family.”

Ramamurthy previously appeared as Bloodwork in Season 6 in a nine-episode story arc. He’s reportedly scheduled to appear in Episode 9.09 in the final season. The actor has also appeared in other shows, such as CW’s Beauty and the Beast, Heroes, and Doom Patrol.

It’s good to see some of the staple actors of The CW DC Universe returning for the show’s final season, especially Diggle who really helped kick everything off during his run on Arrow. The television series is produced by Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television. The show is executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Eric Wallace, Sarah Schechter, Sam Chalsen, and Jonathan Butler. Wallace is the showrunner for Season 9.

It’s almost hard to believe the show debuted on The CW way back in October 2014, over eight years ago. And that’s after Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen was first introduced in the second season of the Arrow television series. The final season of The Flash will debut in February on The CW. The last season will feature 13 episodes and feature two graphic novel-style story arcs. Season 9 premieres on the network on February 8.
