MCU Kang as the Beyonder in Avengers: Secret Wars

Kang is coming and looks to be a major part of the MCU’s upcoming film, Avengers: Secret Wars. New rumors suggest that the Beyonder will not only be the villain of Avengers: Secret Wars, but also a variant of Kang the Conqueror in the MCU.

According to a rumor reported by MyTimeToShineHello, The Beyonder will be the main villain, and he’s expected to be another alternate timeline variant of Kang, rather than a separate standalone character. You can see the rumor below:

KANG THE CONQUEROR THREATENS THE ENTIRE MCU

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is one of the grandest mega-franchises in the entertainment industry. After the successful initial three phases, collectively referred to as “The Infinity Saga”. The next chapter in the MCU, phases 4-6, is known as “The Multiverse Saga”. While Thanos, The Mad Titan was the villain of The Infinity Saga, he was defeated by The Avengers in Avengers: Endgame

In this new era of the MCU, a new multiversal threat is rising. He goes by many names. First introduced in live-action under the title “He Who Remains” in the Disney+ series, Loki, this individual may be an unparalleled threat. Kang The Conqueror is a variant of He Who Remains who will terrorize the Ant-Man and his friends this spring in Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania.

After that, Kang The Conqueror will return to battle Loki during the events of Loki Season 2. It is unclear if this version will be the same character from Quantumania, or if he will be a variant. After Loki and Sylvie defeated He Who Remains in the Loki Season 1 finale, the timeline was irrevocably changed. He Who Remains was the creator and protector of The Sacred Timeline, a cosmic loop that prevented multiversal war. Through his death, the door was opened for variants of Kang/He Who Remains to raise hell throughout the cosmos.

After Loki Season 2, Kang The Conqueror will return to the MCU in Avengers: Kang Dynasty, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. It is unknown if the version of Kang who will fight in Avengers 5 is the same character from Loki Season 2 or Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantamania. All versions of the character are played by Jonathan Majors.

IS KANG THE BEYONDER IN AVENGERS: SECRET WARS

Jonathan Majors may be playing a new version of the character in the sixth installment of the franchise, Avengers: Secret Wars if MyTimeToShineHello’s leak is accurate. In the Marvel comics, the Beyonder is a totally different character than Kang. If the rumor is true, the MCU is taking a different approach for the character, who debuted in Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars Issue No. 1 in January 1984. The character was originally created by James Shooter and Mike Zeck.

The Beyonde possible for Avengers: Secret Wars

The Beyonder is a being who comes from beyond the multiverse, hence the name. He is extraordinarily powerful, with reality-warping powers that far outclass the abilities of the Scarlet Witch. He is the primary antagonist of the Secret Wars comics. The Beyonders are a race of beings from outside the multiverse, and their power is used by Dr. Doom in the events of the 2015 Secret Wars comic book event.

THE KANG/BEYONDER REPORT IS ONLY A RUMOR RIGHT NOW

The rumor that suggests Kang is a variant version of The Beyonder in the MCU comes from a source with a mixed track record. Additionally, any news that comes from social media as opposed to a reputable news outlet should be greatly scrutinized. So take this report with a grain of salt. However, if it is true, this new creative decision could make Kang/He Who Remains/Beyonder the greatest villain in the history of the MCU.

Majors recently teased the complex duality that will make Kang work in the MCU while speaking to Nerdbunker (via The Direct). He stated, “I think with Kang, my objective with every role I play is to make them as universal and as human as possible.” Majors continued, “I think we’d be lucky, you know, for these next phases to have a big bad that also allows the audiences to oscillate between cheering and booing.”

Jonathan Majors has a great deal of love for his role in the MCU, and his passionate words suggest greatness for his performance as Kang and variants thereof. The perfect villain is someone fans can love, hate, and love to hate, and Majors gets that. Hopefully, the creative team responsible for the writing Kang understands the importance of that storytelling principle.

Marvel fans will get their first real glimpse of Majors as Kang the Conqueror on the big screen in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which hits theaters on Feb. 17. Kang is going to be back again in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, arriving May 2, 2025. Finally, Avengers: Secret Wars hits theaters on May 1, 2026. The next two Avengers movies will both be part of Phase 6 of “The Multiverse Saga.”
