New Power Rangers Lightning Collection Zord Ascension Project Tigerzord Coming in 2023

The next entry in Hasbro's new Power Rangers Lightning Collection expansion, the Zord Ascension Project, has now been confirmed.

The next entry in Hasbro’s new Power Rangers Lightning Collection expansion, the Zord Ascension Project, has now been confirmed.

So far, the ZAP has had three releases. The first was the Dino Megazord from the iconic Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Season 1 in both its regular color scheme and a special black and gold version released as a redemption with an NFT. This was followed by the Green Ranger’s Dragonzord, which was able to combine with the Megazord as it does in the show.

TIGERZORD IS TAKING OFF IN THE LIGHTNING COLLECTION IN 2023

Hasbro isn’t slowing down anytime soon with their new subline in 2023. Being the year celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the franchise, they plan to bring much more to the collection.

Already announced at Hasbro Pulse Con 2022 back in October was the Astro Megazord from Power Rangers In Space, proving the line won’t just focus on Zords from the original MMPR series.

WHITE RANGER, TIGER POWER!

Recently at Brazil Comic Con, members of the fandom news site MegaPowerBrasil were invited by Hasbro to attend a presentation to hype up their plans for 2023 and the anniversary celebration. Twitter user @RaphaelMaiffre shared a picture from this presentation that confirms the Tigerzord will be the next entry to join Zord Ascension Project.

The Tigerzord is the iconic Zord of the White Ranger introduced in Season 2 of MMPR. In the show, he could transform from Tiger mode to Warrior Mode, his own Megazord combination. This could be combined further into the Mega Tigerzord when used with the main team’s Thunder Megazord. With Hasbro only making this entry so far, many fans are now wondering and expecting for the Thunder Megazord to join later on.

When Bandai America had their Legacy line before the Hasbro takeover, they did the same process with releasing the Season 2 Zords, so it’s possible Hasbro will be taking the same approach, hopefully, unlike Bandai, they will actually get to making Tor to complete the Thunderzord lineup.

Even though no pictures of the actual product have been shown by Hasbro just yet, there are a few features that are sure to be included for collectors to enjoy. Other Zord Ascension Project entries have included molded cockpits with the Rangers sitting inside or a sticker of the team sitting inside, so it is likely the Lightning Collection release will include a look at Tommy inside the iconic cockpit seen in nearly every fight the Tigerzord had. A little White Ranger to be able to stand on top of tiger mode is also a likely inclusion, as this was a memorable part of the debut fight for this Zord.

Another possible accessory opportunity would be pieces to recreate the destruction of the Tigerzord in the Season 3 opener to MMPR. It wouldn’t take much to get this look across and would be a really neat deep cut to be included in this ultimate collector release.
