POWER OF WATER

The Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers, or the Aquitar Rangers as they are known in-universe, are a team of Rangers that were the focus of the 10-episode Alien Ranger miniseries that was aired in 1995 as the ending of Season 3 of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series. This miniseries introduced the Ninja Sentai Kakuranger suits into Power Rangers canon in order to give the production team more footage to work with than just the Zords and Monsters they had been using in Season 3 up to that point.

These water-themed Alien Rangers took over from the original Mighty Morphin team when they were turned into kids via Master Vile, leading them to go on individual Zeo Quests in the build-up to the upcoming Power Rangers Zeo series. While their time as the main team of Rangers was short they have appeared again through the franchise such as a team-up with the Zeo team, and appearances in anniversary episodes such as “Forever Red” and “Legendary Battle”.

ALL AT ONCE

Due to their more obscure status within the Rangers canon Hasbro is bringing the entire team to figure form at once with this upcoming Amazon Exclusive Lightning Collection 5-pack boxset. Featuring the new Plastic Free Packaging initiative that Hasbro has recently introduced instead of a plastic window to see the figures a large art piece fills the front of the box, showing the Rangers standing around water, the source of their power, and their planet of Aquitar in the background. For this team of Rangers the White Ranger, Delphine, was the leader and this is reflected by her being front and center on the box.

This set was previously teased back during Hasbro Pulse Con 2022 as a team coming to the line in 2023 but now we can see how.

This is the first time Hasbro has released a 5 pack of a whole Ranger team at once since the In Space Psycho Ranger team back on Amazon back in 2020, there 2 of the 5 figures had already been released outside of the set, which upset many collectors. With this set none of these figures have been released before and this is the first time a good team of Rangers is getting this format.

Each figure includes their Aquitian Saber and Laser weapons, swappable hands, and effect pieces. Red and Black are also slightly smaller than Blue and Yellow, which may be show accurate and is an interesting detail Hasbro has decided to bring to this release.

NO ALIEN HEADS

Unfortunately, to the disappointment of many fans, Hasbro is not including the typical Lightning Collection civilian heads with this pack. So this means the only option for Aurico, Delphine, Tideus, Cestro, and Corcus is their helmeted look. This means as of now there is no option to bring their unique-looking alien heads to the line.

There is also an error on the Yellow Ranger figure in which the box art and back render show that the figure inside will include a yellow triangle design near the collar when the actual suit has this detail filled in black. It’s likely the reasoning behind this is a cost measure in not having to paint something different on only one figure.

While the box render and art shows this thanks to a tweet posted by @EuSouRalf a picture from an unknown source appears to show the finished product with the corrected paint application. So hopefully this will make it to the final release.

Currently, no price or release details have been revealed for this set as Hasbro has not yet officially shown it off, but keeping the new price of single released figures in mind expect this Amazon Exclusive release to cost around $124.99 and release at some point in 2023.
