20th Century Studios released the final trailer for the long-awaited Avatar sequel.

It’s been 13 years since Avatar changed cinematic history in 2009. Audiences all around the globe couldn’t get enough of the world of Pandora and the incredible 3D visuals that James Cameron and his team created. The film went on to become the highest-grossing film of all time, making over $3 billion dollars at the global box office. The film also was nominated for 9 Oscars and won 3, including Best VFX and Best Cinematography. It’s been years since James Cameron announced that he wants to continue Jake and Neytiri’s story, but it looks like we are finally there.

The sequel was once scheduled to release in December of 2018 but has been delayed numerous times due to the extensive production and when the pandemic started it only became more complicated. Now it’s official that Avatar: The Way of Water will hit the big screen this December. We’ve got a handful of concept art during various events over the last year, but back in April, 20th Century Studios finally released the first teaser trailer to play in theatres ahead of Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Fans were immediately brought back into the fascinating world that is Pandora and couldn’t be more excited for the film to finally release.

That was also proven by the re-release of Avatar in theaters which grossed over $76 Million at the global box office this September. Audiences also got to see some more footage of the highly anticipated sequel. Now we are only a few weeks away from the film and can buy tickets and take a new look at the film with its final trailer.

PANDORA LOOKS STUNNING IN NEW AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER TRAILER

The trailer looks yet again really great. The music is very epic and atmospheric and I think we don’t even have to mention the breathtaking visuals. We get some new looks at the Sully family and get teases of their arrival at a new tribe at a new place in Pandora. We see Jake learning the ways of the water, but also some tensions that arrive with the family’s arrival in this new place. Most of the scenes have been used in the first two trailers, but we also got some new looks at some action scenes.

We also got a great-looking new IMAX exclusive poster, to market the “immersive IMAX 3D” format.

Tickets are now also on sale everywhere. To celebrate that, Fandango has dropped a near 30 minutes interview discussing the long-awaited sequel with the cast. We now also finally have confirmation after weeks of reports that James Cameron’s newest film will have a gigantic runtime of 192 minutes.

I can’t wait for this film to finally arrive. I’ve been blown away by the sheer incredible visuals since the first trailer and with every newly released concept art. I think we are looking at something that could enchant the audience just like the original did. It will be very intriguing to see how it performs at the box office and the Oscars.
