Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger Revealed As The 47th Super Sentai Season

The name of the 47th Super Sentai season has been revealed.

The name for the 47th season of Super Sentai has recently been revealed as Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger due to a new tradmark filing.

This show will begin after the run of the latest Sentai series, Avataro Sentai Donbrothers, which is the 46th Sentai series currently airing. Rumors regarding the new season have previously been reported for the next Ranger team, but the name offers a greater preview of what fans can expect.

Each Super Sentai season has a different theme that defines the design of the Ranger team. Donbrothers is the latest Sentai team that has an Avatar theme but also uses characters featured in the Japanese folktale Momotaro. There is a great mix of unique and common themes, but all differ from each other. Donbrothers also uses a gear gimmick as the previous team, Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger, but look and work differently compared to each other.

A new Sentai season usually starts in February of the new year, which means licenses, previews, and first images appear in the last quarter of the year the current show airs within. The common trend of the releases includes trademark and licensing names in October, the first preview in November, and the first catalog of releases in December. It is December when the Changer, gimmick, and general toys are revealed.

Introducing The 47th Super Sentai Season, King-Ohger

The new Super Sentai has been revealed thanks to new trademark filings. The name has been revealed to be Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger, which fans may find familiar due to the 19th season of the show, Ohranger. This was revealed on social media by great fans such as RangerBoard, who look out for this information. As suggested in the name, the theme is dominantly focused on King/Royalty. Here is the revealed name, as seen in the trademark and licensing.

It was previously rumored that the new Super Sentai season will be an insect Ranger team, with comparisons made with Beetleborgs, B-Fighter, and Kamen Rider Kabuto. However, the current rumors have suggested that this will be a Medieval/knight motif that differs from Ryusoulger. The name could be interpreted as King-Of-Kings Rangers, as ‘Ohsama’(王様) and ‘Oh’(王) are generally translated to mean King or Royalty. Every fan is going to be on high alert for the first images of the Ranger team, including what they look like, their colors, and their motifs.

The insect or Knight theme has yet to be confirmed. However, this is an interesting combination as there are insects that could be considered linked to Royalty, including Bees, Beetles, and Butterflies. The Medieval Knight theme also has a great match with this theme, including legends such as King Arthur. This also reflects the current popularity of Royalty and monarchs as the UK starts a new era with King Charles III now ascending the throne. It will be interesting to see what inspires the new Ranger team and what story will be told.

Long time fan of Tokusatsu fan since Power Rangers was first released in the 90s. Whereas most Superhero fans grew up with DC Comics and Marvel, my childhood was surrounded by releases from Saban Entertainment such as Beetleborgs, along with anime, and other various fads of the generation. Anime is also a great passion with Digimon, That Time I Was Reincarnated As A Slime, and Demon Slayer being significant favorites. It was the love of both Power Rangers and Digimon that led to the path of becoming a Senior Writer for The Illuminerdi.
