The upcoming screenings will celebrate the fifth anniversary of the film’s original release, which was first released in the United States in 2017. One Piece Film: Gold marks the 13th feature film in the One Piece franchise, based on the smash-hit manga series created by Eiichiro Oda. In addition to the theatrical screenings, fans will be treated to a special pre-show experience that will only be available in theaters. The pre-show will feature an exclusive interview Goro Taniguchi, the director of the upcoming new anime movie, One Piece Film Red, which is due out in theaters later this fall. Along with the interview, a trailer for the upcoming movie will also be shown.

It’s almost hard to believe, but it’s already been five years since the film was first released in theaters. Now the iconic franchise is on the cusp of releasing its 15th feature. This special re-release should serve as a nice appetizer to Red’s main course.

Directed by Hiroaki Miyamoto, One Piece Film: Gold sees the Straw Hats visiting the glitzy Gran Tesoro, a city of Entertainment that’s beyond the laws of the World Government. The city is a safe haven and sanctuary for pirates, Marines, and the filthy rich alike. Captain Luffy and the Straw Hat follow the allure of hitting the big jackpot and go to Gran Tesoro. However, underneath the glamorous curtains and lights is a dark and powerful ruler, who has sinister ambitions that could mean the doom of both the Straw Hats and the New World.

One Piece Film Gold - Still 2

One Piece Film: Gold is a fun film, and it’s great that fans will get a chance to relive the experience again in theaters or perhaps witness it in theaters for the first time with this upcoming theatrical re-release. Considering the films were made and formatted for the big screen with much larger budgets, the big screen in a nice theater is the best way to experience a film such as this. Anime fans who attend the special two-night engagement shows are in for a real treat.
