Cannabis use has evolved a lot from the stereotypical stoner stereotypes used to vilify it. It is now a multi-billion dollar industry, and no longer an instant death to a career in many places. That being said, there are a lot of different aspects to the cannabis industry, from its place in economics, society, and various uses. Luckily, there are documentaries that make learning about it a lot more enjoyable.

That is the reason why anyone who is a fan and supporter of cannabis should be watching some of the best weed documentaries that have ever been created. These marijuana documentaries go over a lot of the issues associated with the plant and are sure to open your eyes in more ways than one.

The 7 Best Cannabis Documentaries

Cannabis Weed, the People
  1. Weed the People

Released in 2018 and directed by Abby Epstein, Weed the People shows the struggles of families dealing with childhood cancer and not having the right treatments they needed because of the U.S. government’s war on cannabis. This is a documentary that follows these families as they suffer in the process of the government’s prohibitional stance on scientific research of cannabinoids for cancer treatment. Even though medical marijuana is legal in the U.S. now, this documentary is a very good reminder of just how many people fought and struggled before that happened.

Cannabis High Country
  1. High Country: The Future of Weed

Created by VICE for their YouTube channel, this is a very interesting look into the future of cannabis after many U.S. states started legalizing it. This cannabis documentary was created in 2013 in Colorado, which was the first legal cannabis market in the country. It showcases cannabis growth cycle and a cultivation model that does not waste any part of the plant. It also then talks about the growing market of cannabis technological companies and a lot more like the jobs that can be created, etc. This is definitely one of the best weed documentaries to watch if you want to compare what the market was like about a decade ago with what it is now.

Cannabis Super High Me
  1. CannabisSuper High Me

Super High Me was released in 2008 and is one of the most fun and interesting marijuana documentaries to watch on YouTube. It was directed by Michael Blieden and showcases comedian Dough Benson as he tries to figure out what influence weed has on his mind and body. In order to do this, he smokes weed regularly for 30 days. Now, this documentary doesn’t really provide any technical or useful information on the topic, but that doesn’t mean it’s a waste of time. It is more like a cannabis documentary and a comedy show wrapped into one.
