Thor: Love And Thunder Marvel Legends Reveal First Look At Christian Bale As Gorr The God Butcher

Marvel Legend toys have revealed the first look at Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love And Thunder.

Marvel fans are waiting for a Thor: Love and Thunder trailer, but it feels that chief architect Kevin Feige and the red brand have a plan that’s still in the works.

Is it a bummer? Yes, especially because there’s been no footage or marketing, despite feeling like the film is flying under the radar of Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness

Though one thing is sure, the woes of Marvel Legend toys leaking online and showcasing official first reveals and promo art for upcoming Marvel films continues. And it just so happens that the latest leak was Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher. The design on the villain is a clear departure from the source material and will likely raise fan reaction that comes off as divisive.

For example, the signature black tendrils are nowhere to be found. The god butcher, who looks very alien-like and methodical creature in the panels of Marvel comics, instead looks more human for Bale’s portrayal and appearance in the MCU.

Upon further inspection of the Gorr, the Marvel Legends packaging contains a summary on the back for Bale’s villainous role that reads, “Wielding a strange and terrifying weapon, Gorr will let nothing stand in his way.”

It makes you wonder what percentage and influence in terms of the story will Bale have in the MCU as a villain and his first superhero or cape role since 2012 when he hung up the proverbial Batman cape in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Rises. Will the role be a one-and-done, or does Feige have something up his sleeve, and we just don’t know it yet.

In addition to Bales’s character being revealed, the leak was also exposed in the set of newly updated costumes for Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord, Tessa Thompson’s King Valkyrie, and Vin Diesel’s Groot. A few other leaks showed a revamped Thor costume, and glimpses of the Ravager Thor could explain the role of the Guardians in the film. And finally, Natalie Portman’s Mighty Thor looks pulled straight from the comics.

No plot details have been revealed up to this moment and are currently under wraps.

So far, the official cast is Chris Hemsworth as the titular God of Thunder. Award-winning Natalie Portman will join Hemsworth as Jane Foster/Mighty Thor and Tessa Thompson as King Valkyrie.

Returning MCU actors were reported that Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Jaimie Alexander as Sif, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, 9x Academy Award-nominee Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon, Vin Diesel as Groot, Sean Gunn as Kraglin Obfonteri, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, Taika Waititi as Korg are set to return. As well as Academy Award-winner Matt Damon, Luke Hemsworth, and 3x Golden Globe-nominee Sam Neill will reprise their respective roles as Asgardian actors from the previous installment Thor Ragnarok also directed by Waititi.

Officially joining the MCU is Academy Award-winner Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher, Academy Award-winner Russell Crowe as Zeus, and Academy Award-nominee Melissa McCarthy. McCarthy was revealed to be in the film through set photos and would be joining as a fake actor version of Hela and Ben Falcone appearing in an undisclosed role.

Academy Award-winning Taika Waititi will return to the director’s chair and follow a screenplay he co-wrote with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Someone Great; Sweet/Vicious).

Thor: Love and Thunder is slated to hit theater on July 8th, 2022.
