The Hardy Boys cast explains how the new mystery of Season 2 affects their characters in our new exclusive interview.

The Hardy Brothers (Frank and Joe) are back to solve another mystery. Joining the brothers is their group of friends from Bridgeport who befriended them in Season 1, Callie (Keana Lyn), Chet (Adam Swain), Phil (Christian Perri), and Biff (Riley O’Donnell). Season 2’s mystery involves a fellow classmate who mysteriously goes missing and will also further explore the personal journeys of the returning characters. Season 2 will also introduce brand new faces to the show.

Based on the novels created by writer Edward Stratemeyer, The Hardy Boys has been around since the late 1920s. The series first started with The Tower Treasure, released in 1927. The books have gone through many changes to keep up with the times, which has kept the series engaging and successful for almost a century. The novels’ continued success has grown into a media franchise that consists of numerous tv shows, comic books, video games, and spin-off novels.

The current series adaptation, and Season 1, of The Hardy Boys premiered on Hulu on December 4, 2020. Season 1 focused on the Hardy Brothers trying to solve the murder of their beloved mother and moving to the town of Bridgeport. The brothers make new friends throughout their investigation and find a magical relic involving a sinister organization. Season 2 takes place six months after Season 1 with a new mystery.

The Illuminerdi: In this new season, the new mystery is a teen going missing. How does this mystery impact the whole group? Like why are they affected by this?

Alexander Eliott: Well I think it all starts with Joe. I mean, everybody’s happy. Joe’s like “let’s do this mystery”.

Rohan Campbell: We are brutally dragged into his mouth (laughter).

Alexander Eliott: I’m kind of like getting everybody rallying the crew. But then we are all dragged into it, and now we are all on the team.

Rohan Campbell: Yeah, they did a great job this season with writing a mystery that not a single character could ignore. It directly affects every single one of us. So they did a great job with that.

Adam Swain: Yeah, especially like in ways you’ll be like, yeah no I don’t think my character fully has a stake in this. Oh “just wait till the episode this one whatever” (laughter), You are like “oh wait ok, wait how did you get that, but I see where you did it, and it made sense”. So yeah there is definitely something for everybody in this season.

Keana Lyn: I think too, like each of us has our own function now as our characters. Like our special skill set when it comes down to what we do in the investigation realm. So we just play to that and it really pushes us forward.

The Hardy Boys

As a massive fan of the show, I am extremely excited about Season 2. After watching Season 1, I fell in love with the characters, story, and world of The Hardy Boys. I love projects involving mystery and paranormal and The Hardy Boys hits all the specific genres I just mentioned. I fell in love with the tv series so much that I started reading some of the novels. I even watched playthroughs of some video games based on the franchise. I can’t wait to watch Season 2, and hopefully, the show is renewed for a third season. All episodes of The Hardy Boys Season 2 are now available for streaming on Hulu.
