Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank drops a hilarious and action-packed new trailer.

Michael Cera is an underutilized action star. As evident in Scott Pilgrim vs The World, where he took down Captain America, Superman, and even Captain Marvel with the help of Huntress. But we will get to see his action prowess once again in Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank! Sure, we won’t actually get to see Cera actually perform the action as he is providing the voice for Hank. But, deep down we all know he can do it and we will feel that power through Hank and the wonderfully rendered CG animation. Watch the new trailer below to get an inkling of what I’m talking about.

Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank Official Trailer

Comedy, cuteness, and crazy action explode throughout the trailer! Not to mention a stellar cast, Samuel L. Jackson,  Mel Brooks, George Takei, Aasif Mandvi, Gabriel Iglesias, Djimon Hounsou, Michelle Yeoh, Kylie Kuioka, and Cathy Shim! Paws of Fury really aims to make a legend out of Hank. The trailer definitely has the movie going in that direction. They take a simple fart joke to an entirely epic scale, which is irrefutably hilarious, but also just an example of comedy-writing genius. I really want to know if Mel Brooks, Andrew Bergman, Richard Pryor, or Norman Steinberg had anything to do with that. Feels kind of Mel Brooks to me.

Paws of Fury is old-school martial arts films meet Kung Fu Panda in my opinion. There is some truly awesome choreography in the fights. Sumo Kitty’s nunchuck work would be impressive if performed in real life, but is absolutely epic considering the ratio of his arms to his body and that he is using a cat. The film also gets a lot of points for pushing the boundaries of the PG age rating and teasing that in the trailer. If the comedy, action, and town-leveling fart joke didn’t sell you, Samuel L. Jackson yelling, “What the mother father cocker spaniel…” had to win you over.

Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank is scheduled to release only in theaters on July 15, 2022. Tickets are not yet available.
