The Weekend Away Netflix release date: 3 March 2022

The Batman

The Batman is Warner Bors. Pictures’ DC superhero crime action drama based on the DC Comics. It is a reboot of the Batman film franchise. The film was directed by Matt Reeves, who wrote the screenplay with Peter Craig. The film is almost-noir-driven and explores Batman‘s detective side more than previous films, drawing inspiration from 1970s films, David Fincher’s detective thrillers and comics such as “Year One” (1987), “Ego” (2000), and “Zero Year” (2013–14).

It is not part of the DCEU franchise. WB’s incorporation of the multiverse in its DC productions allowed Reeves to take the project in his own direction. The film takes place in a separate world known as “Earth-2”. Set in his second year of fighting crime, the film sees Batman uncover corruption in Gotham City while pursuing the Riddler (Dano), a serial killer who targets Gotham’s elite. The Riddler and the Penguin are awesome choices as the Bat-villains for this distinctive story.

It stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne / Batman alongside Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle / Catwoman, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton / Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, and Colin Farrell as Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot / Penguin. Jayme Lawson, Barry Keoghan, Alex Ferns, and Rupert Penry-Jones also star. Michael Giacchino composed the film’s score.

Synopsis: During his second year of fighting crime, Batman ventures into Gotham City’s underworld when a sadistic killer targets elite Gotham City citizens leaving behind a trail of cryptic clues. As he uncovers corruption that connects to his own family during the investigation the scale of the perpetrator’s plans becomes clear and he is forced to make new allies to catch the Riddler and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued the metropolis.

The film is intended to launch a Batman shared universe, with two sequels planned and two spin-off television series in development for HBO Max. According to the filmmaker, it is the most grounded, dark, and gritty version of Batman which deals with the psychological aspects of the character at this point in the story. The inspiration behind The Riddler in this film is the infamous Zodiac Killer. This interpretation of the Riddler and Penguin is going to be ideal.

This is easily one of the biggest films of 2022. The anticipation is beyond conventional with fans anxious to see Batman in a detective setting, and the movie certainly has the most comic-book feel to it compared to previous Batman movies. The trailers for this film have been more than outstanding. The run-time of the film is almost 3hrs. This film feels like this might be the best live-action Batman movie yet.

The Batman is scheduled to premiere in New York City on March 1 and will be theatrically released on March 4. It was delayed twice from an initial June 2021 release date due to the pandemic. It so far holds an 87% Rotten Tomatoes score based on 208 reviews with praise for its grim, gritty, and gripping super-noir story, the score, cinematography, action, the cast, and the director. Like any DC flick, this is a must-watch for all audiences.

RELATED: THE ADAM PROJECT DROPS THRILLING TRAILER, KEY ART, AND 5 NEW IMAGES

Levy is known for his comedy films and family entertainers filled with charming characters and concepts. In 2021, Levy and Reynolds’ Free Guy movie became a big hit in terms of critical, audience reception, and box-office wise. Free Guy was nominated for Best VFX in Oscars 2022.

This movie is a fun throwback to 80’s sci-fi adventures. The embargo for social media reactions lifted in February, way early than usual, and all of them are positive. Some say it gives Amblin Studio vibes, and in a way that would make Steven Spielberg proud. They say it felt like a mix between Star Wars & Back To The Future, two classics from the past.

Another movie in the combination of this director and actor duo is so exciting. The trailer for this looks so great with trademark Ryan Reynolds charm and cool sci-fi elements, and it is visually stunning as well. I believe this movie is going to be as good as Free Guy. The film is scheduled to be released on Netflix in March. This is a must-watch film for all audiences.

The Adam Project Netflix release date: 11 March, 2022

Turning Red

Turning Red is Pixar’s computer-animated coming-of-age fantasy comedy-adventure directed by Domee Shi in her feature directorial debut, from a screenplay by Shi and Julia Cho. Domee Shi is the writer and director of the Academy Award-winning Pixar short Bao. This is the first Pixar film to be solely directed by a woman previously Brenda Chapman co-directed Brave. The first Pixar film to take place in Canada, and the second to feature an Asian lead character after Up.

The film stars the voices of Rosalie Chiang, Sandra Oh (Killing Eve), Ava Morse (Ron’s Gone Wrong), Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (Never Have I Ever), Hyein Park, Orion Lee (First Cow), Tristan Allerick Chen, Addie Chandler (American Horror Story), Wai Ching Ho (Daredevil), and James Hong (Kung Fu Panda trilogy).

Anne-Marie, Lori Tan Chinn, Lillian Lim, Mia Tagano, Sherry Cola, Sasha Roiz, and Lily Sanfelippo have been also cast. Jordan Fisher, Josh Levi, Topher Ngo, Finneas O’Connell, and Grayson Villanueva are voice members of the 4*Town boy band.

RELATED: TURNING RED: ADORABLE NEW POSTER & TRAILER HIT THE INTERNET

Synopsis: Set in Toronto between 2002 and 2003, Turning Red centers around Meilin “Mei” Lee (Chiang), a confident 13-year-old Chinese-Canadian who is torn between staying her mother’s dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence. However, one morning after she witnesses a nightmareous dream, she is horrified to discover that she has turned into a giant red panda, later learning that her ancestors have a shared history with the species. And as if changes to her interests, relationships, and body weren’t enough, whenever she gets too stressed or excited (which for a teenager is practically ALWAYS), she “poofs” into the giant red panda time and time again.

The film deals with aspects of puberty, though the film does not directly talk of biological changes. The premise of the film itself feels delightful and relatable. Turning into a giant panda feels like a different spin on Hulk, instead of anger the main character turns due to excitement or stress.

Ludwig Göransson is set to compose the film’s score, making it his first animated film composition. Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell will write songs that will be performed in the film by the fictional boy band 4*Town. The art design in this film feels like director Shi’s short film Bao, which was beautiful.

Turning Red premiered in London on February 21, 2022. Turning Red was originally intended to be a theatrical release on March 11 but Disney opted to skip theatres as they did for the previous Pixar films Luca (2021) and Soul (2020). Pixar always creates high-standard films which are touching and make us emotionally invested so we can assume this to be another great movie. Trailers for the film looked cute and it promises a fun movie filled with warmth, friendship, and life lessons.
