Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Picard Season 2 Premiere Dates and More!

A whole lot of Star Trek is coming, and it is great!

2022 is going to be an amazing year for Trekkies. Paramount+ has just announced the premiere dates for Strange New Worlds, Picard season 2, and confirmed additional Prodigy episodes later in the year along with Season 3 of Lower Decks. We now have new Star Trek content all the way up through July. . . this is a lot to take in.

Prodigy’s first 10 episodes wrap on Feb 3rd, the following week, Feb 10th, Discovery will return with the remaining 6 episodes of Season 4. On March 3rd, the 11th episode of Discovery Season 4 will be joined by the season premiere of Picard Season 2. The Season 2 finale of Picard lands on May 5th, alongside the series premiere of Strange New Worlds, which will run for 10 episodes, ending on July 7th.

Star Trek 2022 Schedule As of 1-18-2022

I’m really curious about how they came to the decision to overlap the shows, this is by no means a complaint (I’ll never complain about getting more Star Trek), I’m just wondering why they decided that was the best course of action rather than extending out the new content until August. Is July/August typically a dead month for people streaming content? Is there some sort of event I’m blanking on that they don’t want to compete with?

Lower Decks Season 3 is set to premiere over the summer as well however no firm date was given. Finally, Prodigy will return with the remaining 10 episodes of Season 1 sometime later in the year too. The announcements also included confirmation of renewals for Discovery, Lower Decks, and Strange New Worlds. . . even with this, I’m sure you’ll still see a never-ending supply of YouTube videos, Twitter threads, and rants on Reddit about how everyone involved with “nu-trek” has been fired because of how poorly these shows are performing. . . despite the mountains of evidence that prove otherwise. Check out the full press release below for additional information.

If you’re the kind of person who likes to stay up late to catch the new episodes when they drop, make sure to follow us on Twitch for our watch-alongs and after-show discussions. Aaron Waltke of Prodigy recently joined us in the chat and will be returning for an on-screen appearance in just a few weeks.
