Batgirl Breaking News: New Leaked Set Photos Indicate Robin May Appear In 2022 HBO Max Film

New set photos from the upcoming DCEU movie, Batgirl, may reveal Micheal Keaton’s new suit and a new DCEU Robin.

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are directing Batgirl, which stars Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne/Batman, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon and Brendan Fraser as the supervillain “Firefly”. Batgirl is scheduled for release on HBO Max sometime in 2022.

Another DCEU movie that was originally scheduled for a streaming-only release, Blue Beetle, was recently changed to receive a theatrical release. Many fans of Batgirl would like to see the new Caped Crusader on the big screen, but as of right now, that does not appear to be in the cards.

BATGIRL LEAKED SET PHOTOS SUGGEST ROBIN EXISTS IN FILM’S CONTINUITY

A shocking new development may reveal a character no one expected to see in the upcoming HBO Max film. Batgirl will take place after The Flash in DCEU continuity, and The Flash is expected to place Michael Keaton as the new Batman of Earth-1, replacing Ben Affleck’s version of the character. A new leaked set photo from the Glasgow Batgirl shoot reveals a mural of Batman and Robin.

This could be the new Batsuit design for Michael Keaton in The Flash or Batgirl. Nothing is known about this version of Robin. Michael Keaton did not interact with Robin in Batman or Batman Returns, but his version of the character did in Batman Forever and Batman And Robin. It is quite probable that those films do not exist in this continuity however. A comic-book sequel to Batman, titled Batman ‘89, featured a character named Drake Winston, who became Robin in that universe. This comic is probably not canon to the DCEU version of Michael Keaton’s Batman, as the Robin seen on this set photo looks very different.

WHICH MEMBERS OF THE BAT-FAMILY WILL APPEAR?

Dick Grayson was previously murdered by the Joker in the DCEU, though it is unknown if that minor plot detail will be canon after The Flash changes things. The Robin seen in this leaked image could be Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, even Damian Wayne or someone entirely new. Details about this character will likely remain secret for quite some time, but now that fans know Robin may be in Batgirl, the hunt is on.

If Robin does appear alongside Michael Keaton’s Batman and Leslie Grace’s Batgirl, he should be Dick Grayson, and that should be the beginning of the DCEU’s first true Bat-family. The world of Batman was severely under-utilized in the DCEU, which begins with a Batman who has been operating for decades, who fought alone because his Robin was dead. The Bat-Family never would have worked with that version of Batman, but this rebooted Keaton Batman could do that superteam justice in live-action.

BATGIRL SHOULD LEAD INTO THE DCEU BAT-FAMILY

If Dick Grayson is in Batgirl, the DCEU could follow the lead of Titans by focusing on a new Robin with each season. Season one followed Dick Grayson/Nightwing, season two followed Jason Todd/Red Hood, and season three followed Tim Drake. While Titans is far from perfect, this formula actually works quite well, and it could work in the DCEU too. After Batgirl, we could do a Batman solo film with Michael Keaton, continuing Dick Grayson’s story while introducing Jason Todd into the fray. A Nightwing spinoff could follow, where Tim Drake would make for a very exciting supporting character.

The great thing about the Bat-Family is that each and every character deserves to lead a spinoff, making them perfect for a mega-franchise like the DCEU. Most of them could be introduced in a variety of places, and with an older Batman leading the way, we could even see Batman Beyond on the big-screen someday.
