As we dive headfirst into 2022, the MCU is still stronger than ever, and a new Reddit leak has just given us a look at what the next Avengers team might look like!
The leak comes to us via Reddit user u/Ryantcairns, who leaked a new poster featuring Kamala Khan, Okoye, Groot, Thor, Jane Foster, Spider-Man, Wasp, Star-Lord, Hulk, and Shang-Chi. Though we don’t know exactly what upcoming project the poster is for, it’s certainly exciting to see all of these characters together for the first time! Could this potentially be the new roster of the Avengers?
Potential New Avengers Roster and Thor’s Armor
The first thing that stands out to us is Thor’s new armor, which is presumably taken from the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder that releases later this year. This is the first time we have seen this new costume, and it looks absolutely phenomenal! It builds upon the previous costumes of the Asgardian hero but highlights them in a brilliantly colorful palette that fits perfectly with director Taika Waititi’s style. I particularly like the flared-out wing design on the helmet, which pays homage to the comics while adapting the look for the modern-day.

Then, of course, there’s Jane Foster’s version of Thor, who looks incredible here! Fans are extremely excited for Natalie Portman to return as the character and take on the mantle of Thor in this year’s sequel, and this poster is sure to build upon that excitement even further. It also confirms some of the information from other leaks that we’ve received, in that the version of Mjolnir that she’s holding seems to be a patched-together version of the original hammer that Hela destroyed back in Thor: Ragnarok.
Leaked set photos have given us a look at the transformation that Jane Foster will go through to receive the hammer, which looks to be taking place in the settlement of New Asgard. The fact that she’s holding the original hammer is a good indication that this is not a multiversal version of Thor…but is rather the main Jane Foster from our main MCU timeline who takes up the mantle.
Another thing to point out is the partial figure of a new Black Panther on the far right of the poster! While this could just be reused art of the late Chadwick Boseman’s version of the character, the rest of this poster is updated with new and upcoming characters, so there’s reason to believe that this may be showing us our first look at the next character to take on the mantle! This certainly doesn’t look like the figure of Shuri, but it’s too early to tell right now if this is new or old art.

The last thing we want to point out is Gamora. The background of this poster features the faded silhouettes of Steve Rogers and Tony Stark, creating the feeling that the original Avengers are passing on the torch to the new characters featured in the foreground. But why is Gamora faded as well?
We know that she’s still alive…or rather, that the variant version of her from Avengers: Endgame that doesn’t remember her relationship with Starlord is still alive. So perhaps she is faded in this poster because the original version of her character is dead? If so, does this give fans reason to expect that the variant we saw may be drastically different from our original Gamora? Only time will tell…
Or maybe we’re just reading too much into it. Either way, the poster is very exciting, and get’s us even more hyped for Thor: Love and Thunder to release on July 8th, 2022.
