THE TOP 7 THINGS THE ILLUMINERDI WANTS TO SEE AT DC FANDOME 2021

7. The Batman HBO Max Spin-Off Series

Not too much is known about The Batman spin-off series that will focus on the Gotham Police during Robert Pattinson’s first year as the Caped Crusader. Following the departure of showrunner Terence Winter, Joe Barton took command of the highly anticipated spin-off series. With this spin-off series focusing on the Gotham Police it shouldn’t be a surprise that corruption is at the center of it.

Reeves revealed details about this spin-off series at DC Fandome 2020 talking about how it will see the Dark Knight’s first year as a vigilante through the eyes of the corrupt police officers, one in particular with the story becoming a battle for this particular cop’s soul. Kevin Smith has said that a producer told him, “It’s like the James Gordon show.” And we here at The Illuminerdi broke the news that the series has a new working title, Arkham.

We’re hoping that this year’s DC Fandome will bring more about this upcoming series to light. Details about characters, more specifics about the plot, or even the official title of the series. Is the officer at the center of the series James Gordon or another officer working with or for him? Hopefully more will be revealed during DC Fandome.

6. HBO Max Green Lantern Series

Green Lantern Corps

We here at The Illuminerdi have dropped quite a bit of exclusive news about the highly anticipated Green Lantern series. The series will not include two of the most famous Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and John Stewart, instead shining a light on others like Guy Gardner, Alan Scott, Simon Baz, Jessica Cruz, and Sinestro. Finn Wittrock has been cast as Guy Gardner and Jeremy Irvine will be playing Alan Scott. The Green Lantern series will also feature an entirely new Green Lantern Bree Jarta who is half human and half alien.

The Green Lantern series is said to take place over multiple time periods including the 1940s, the 1980s, and present day. Alan Scott’s story will be set in the 1940s while Guy Gardner will be partnered with Bree Jarta in the 1980s. Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz, two newer additions to the Green Lantern Corps. in the comics, are speculated to be a part of the present day story. The Green Lantern series will also focus on Sinestro’s time as one of the greatest Green Lanterns, although his dark destiny is looming.

5. Batgirl

Batgirl

Not much is known about the upcoming HBO Max Batgirl movie. The film has shown some exciting momentum with Leslie Grace being cast to play Barbra Gordan aka Batgirl. Christina Hodson will be writing the script and she is no stranger to DC having written Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn) and the upcoming The Flash film.

Directing duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will be helming the film, having experience directing female superhero stories after working on the highly anticipated Marvel series Ms. Marvel. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that JK Simmons is reportedly in talks to reprise his role as Commissioner Gordon for the film which could hint at Batgirl being part of the DCEU. We at The Illuminerdi reported on casting for the villain who is described as a disgruntled former firefighter.
