News On The Future For Two Retribution Members

WWE Retribution

WWE may be going in a new direction for two Retribution members and it may include a name change.

Rumor has it WWE has decided to change two Retribution members, Reckoning and Slapjack, back to their previous names.  It was reported that the names have already changed back internally.  Reckoning will have her name return to Mia Yim which she wrestled under in NXT.  Slapjack will be going by his NXT name of Shane Thorne.

The interesting part is that they are both still listed by their Retribution names on WWE’s RAW roster.  However, that should be changing in the near future.  At this point there isn’t any news on when they will be returning to TV.

Trying To Use The Pair Outside Of Retribution

On June 25 Throne wrestled a dark match before the SmackDown taping for company officials against current NXT Champion Karrion Kross.  So he is starting to wrestle again without his Retribution gimmick but just not a TV match.

This isn’t the first time WWE has had plans for the pair outside of Retribution or at least the main group.  There was talk about moving Reckoning and Slapjack to SmackDown back in April and again in May which of course didn’t end up happening.  Yim was supposed to debut on the Throwback SmackDown episode in early May, but that got scrapped.  She was also supposed to appear on the go-home show of SmackDown for WrestleMania Backlash, but again that fell through.

A Main Roster Singles Run May Be Risky

It would appear that WWE is eager to use Throne and Yim, especially Yim, but can’t figure out how they want to do it.  My guess would be Yim will be on the SmackDown brand because they keep trying to use her there.  Yim will fit in the women’s division for either show and will add a new and talented competitor to the mix.

However, Throne is another story and may not fit in as well.  I’m not super familiar with Thorne or his Slapjack work.  However, from what I remember seeing he was good, but not amazing and it is really easy for good wrestlers to get lost on the main roster.

Retribution Not Completely Dead Yet (Unfortunately)

Following the Retribution  break-up T-BAR and MACE have remained on RAW which was the plan back when Reckoning and Slapjack were supposed to go to SmackDown.  T-BAR and MACE have been tagging together and feuding with Lucha Houseparty so not in title contention for the tag titles at all.

Mustafa Ali isn’t involved with his old faction and is currently feuding with Mansoor.

I am so happy Retribution is no more it would seem for good.  Right from the start it seemed like Ali’s jobber squad even though Yim and Dominik Dijakovic [T-BAR] are both really good, but they got stuck in a terrible faction. We will have to await further news, but for now this is a good update to have.

What do you think of Yim going back to her old name and gimmick?  Do you think she is ready for a singles main roster run?  Is Thorne ready to go solo on the main roster?  Who do you want to see Yim wrestle on the main roster?  Who should be Thorne’s first feud on the main roster?  Let us know what you think of this rumor down in the comments.
