With Black Widow being released next month, star Scarlett Johansson revealed that the plot for the solo film has a connection to 2012’s Avengers.

As we remember in the first Avengers film, Natasha mentioned something about a mission she did in Budapest along with Jeremy Renner’s character Hawkeye. This is the moment where the fans will find out what really happened in Budapest, which Johansson explained her character is traumatized by something and that she has unfinish business to handle.

At the recent press conference for Black Widow, Scarlett Johansson stated :

“There’s unfinished business and a sense of guilt that follows her around, and it all stems from what happened in Budapest. The film is not about what happened in Budapest, but it helps us understand the heaviness that Natasha walks around with and what her burden is. It gave us a great jumping-off point for a lot that goes on in the film.”

However, there is more to the story than Natasha returning to the European country. According to a press kit, producer Brian Chapek explained that another reason beside Natasha searching for clues will also lead to a family reunion which includes her sister Yelena played by Florence Pugh.

Chapek stated:

“What leads her to Budapest is a very important MacGuffin with a clue that reminds her of her past—a sign that comes from Yelena, who she realizes is in Budapest. They haven’t seen each other for 20 years.”

Whatever occurred in the Hungarian Capital, it brought a huge impact to the spy. The only thing that fans can expect for next month is seeing Natasha facing some major obstacles while fulfilling her own objective. It is unsure if the solo film will show the events of both Black Widow and Hawkeye in Budapest but what is said it will likely be explained.

Black Widow hits theaters and Disney plus on July 9, 2021. Are you really curious about what Scarlett Johansson has teased about Natasha’s unfinished business? Let us know in the comments and follow The Illuminerdi’s social media for upcoming content.
