[UPDATE: According to Borys Kit of THR, the Wesley Snipes’ negotiations have broken down.]
The Illuminerdi has an exclusive report that film and martial arts icon Wesley Snipes is currently in negotiations with Lionsgate to star in the upcoming John Wick 4 in a supporting role!
Wesley Snipes is currently being circled for a role in which he will play a swordsman alongside Keanu Reeves’ John Wick. Due to the actor’s past work in the Blade film trilogy, that was very sword combat heavy along with his overall action pedigree, this potential casting makes all the sense in the world.
Wesley Snipes Would Add To Talented Ensemble Cast
If Snipes closes the deal and joins the John Wick 4 ensemble, he will join the ranks of Bill Skarsgård (It Chapter 2), Shamier Anderson (Stowaway), and Japanese-British pop star Rina Sawayama. Donnie Yen (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), who is confirmed to be playing an old friend of Wick’s “who shares his same history and many of the same enemies.”
Production is set to get underway this month in Paris and Berlin, with additional filming taking place in Japan and New York City at a later date. Chad Stahelski returns to direct, but longtime writer Derek Kolstad has stepped away from the franchise, so Michael Finch and Shay Hatten will resume screenwriter duties.
John Wick 4 is due out in theaters May 27, 2022. What do you think of Wesley Snipes potentially joining the John Wick universe? Sound off below in the comments or on our social media with your thoughts and reactions!
