Current IMPACT Tag Champion and NJPW star David Finlay may be considering a run in WWE according to his dad.

On a recent episode of Stories with Brisco and Bradshaw their guest was the legendary Fit Finlay, who is somehow not in the WWE Hall of Fame. The topic of COVID and an apparent outbreak in NJPW came up. Fit’s son, David, is in Japan and works for NJPW, so it gave them an inside man to how NJPW is handling it.

“He’s [David Finlay] in Japan right now,” Fit said. “So I guess Japan have had an outbreak of COVID and so they started cancelling shows. He [works] for New Japan Pro Wrestling. They started having an outbreak. A lot of the talent got COVID so they were sending them home. They went to the airport yesterday and almost all of them were tested positive for COVID so they were sent back.

They were gonna go to [a] government hotel but then they made a deal and they put them in the dojo [NJPW training facility] so, my son David and Jay White are in the dojo, quarantined there for another ten days or so which is ridiculous so, the COVID has just the whole world had just put everything on standstill for a little bit and we’ll get over it but, he’s doing well there. I don’t know how New Japan are going to handle this new outbreak or I don’t know, no one does.”

David Finlay May Be Looking to Take His Skills Stateside

As David Finlay is the current IMPACT Tag Champion, along with Juice Robinson, traveling from America to Japan will be a common thing as long as they hold those championships. He has been wrestling for NJPW since 2015 and may be looking to explore new opportunities. His foot is already in the door over in IMPACT. There are three big US wrestling promotions he may want to show his skills in.

This may be exactly what David is struggling with at the moment, according to his dad. He may even be considering a run in the biggest promotion of them all, WWE.

“But, he’s a little bit confused at the minute as what to do next, you know? Is he going to stay in Japan, does he want to try here, like WWE or whatever. But him and I are gonna sit down when he does eventually come home and try and figure it out but he just needs a little bit of wisdom put in his head. Not that I have any,” Fit said.

Could David Finlay Land In WWE Soon?

IMPACT and AEW are both always looking for hot young talent so no doubt they would love to sign him. However, WWE may be watching David very closely to see if he can perform well to an American audience over in IMPACT. David also has an in over at WWE. His father, Fit, is a backstage guy at WWE and has been for a very long time. His name carries a lot of weight in the wrestling world, so giving his son a chance isn’t a stretch.

Do you think David Finlay will or should leave NJPW? Which American promotion would he do best in? Do you think he would do well in WWE? Are there any wrestlers in IMPACT, AEW or WWE you would like to see David wrestle?  Fight those keys and leave some comments below.
