Emily Blunt tells Howard Stern that neither she nor John Krasinski have received an offer to be in Fantastic Four.

When there’s smoke, there is the Human Torch. Except apparently in the case of the much beloved Emily Blunt and John Krasinski.

Although there are many rumors surrounding Emily Blunt and her husband taking on the lead roles in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, Blunt revealed that it’s all “fan-casting” for now.

She recently spoke to Howard Stern about the rumors. “No one has received a phone call,” said Blunt. Emily was very blunt (pun intended) when asked if she would be interested in playing such a role. “It’s not that it’s beneath me. I love Iron Man, and when I got offered Black Widow I was obsessed with Iron Man. I wanted to work with Robert Downey Jr. It would’ve been amazing.”

Emily Blunt Ponders Superhero Status

The idea of working on a superhero movie doesn’t quite excite her on its own, as the role would have to be something she would be interested in.

“We are inundated – It’s not only all the movies, it’s the endless tv shows as well,” she explained. “It’s not to say that I’d never want to play one, it would just have to be something so cool and like a really cool character, and then I’d be interested.”

It seems like (for now, at least) fans will just have to continue pushing for John Krasinski and Emily Blunt to take on the roles, as “fan-casting” and a good photoshop sessions may be the only way we will see the couple wear the F4 suit. I do think that Emily is telling the truth here. She wouldn’t brush off the possibility of working with Marvel if a role was actually offered.

The good news is that it isn’t “clobbering time” just yet. There is still a while to go. The Fantastic Four reboot isn’t supposed to hit the movie theaters until 2023 or 2024.
