Rob Van Dam, aka RVD, speaks on what would need to happen in order for him to return to the WWE ring part-time or full-time.

RVD recently joined the 2021 class of WWE Hall of Famers. Hall of Famers, or long retired wrestlers, returning to the ring is not unusual, but it’s usually a sad sight to see. They usually need to wrestle in order to put food on the table, or even worse, to supply their drug habit.

However, in the last few years there has been a change. Wrestlers like Edge, Christian, Shawn Michaels and Goldberg among others have returned and looked very good. Some have even returned to wrestle semi-regularly in Edge and Goldberg’s case.

RVD And WWE Back Together?

With every Hall of Fame class the internet gossips about who from the class may make a return to the ring, even if it’s a one-time only match. This is especially true when the wrestlers still look good and are still in decent shape, like in RVD’s case.

On a recent episode of Out of Character with Ryan Satin, RVD was asked about the chances of him being the newest Hall of Famer to return to the WWE to wrestle in the squared circle once more.

“If there’s a reason, there’s a reason. I probably don’t feel the reasons that the fans would as far as like, ‘Gotta get RVD out of the house.’ I love being in the house. The challenging road life pre-pandemic, that’s not preferred. There are definitely some pros and cons. I enjoy showing off in the ring and enjoy, very much, getting that love and energy from the crowd, looking around and seeing the RVD signs. That’s a high for sure and RVD is all about highs.

At the same time, there’s no part of me that sits at home and watches wrestling and says, ‘I wish I could be in that ring tonight, getting my head pounded in and looking at those lights instead of sitting on my couch and enjoying life.’ I still [wrestle] and when I do, there’s a reason and it’s worth it. It’s all about what’s worth it. My values, there is a place in there for RVD wrestling in WWE. Continuing a full-time run or something like that; don’t hold your breath.”

Never Say Never For Mr Monday Night

The road schedule is grueling and I don’t blame him for not wanting to do that. However, because of COVID, WWE doesn’t really have a road schedule for the time being. So seeing RVD on occasion isn’t out of the question.

I personally would love to see RVD in the WWE ring again as long as he can still perform at a high level. He was one of the ECW originals and was absolutely one of the top reasons to watch ECW at the time. His acrobatics mixed with the hardcore style at the time was truly unique.
