Marvel Studios has released the first teaser trailer for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is off to a fantastic start, even considering that the only projects released thus far have been the Disney+ exclusives WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. That being said, the team behind the most successful movie franchise ever still has more than a few tricks up their sleeves planned for theaters in 2021.
Most of the hype is rightfully coming for July’s Black Widow, Scarlett Johansson’s first MCU solo movie, and the massive multiverse adventure of Spider-Man: No Way Home. There is even some Oscar buzz already building for November’s Eternals, which boasts one of the most stacked casts in MCU history.
That being said, there’s a particular movie coming out in just over four months that hasn’t seen one official bit of promotional material in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Fans are now ecstatic that this has changed in a big way, and on leading actor Simu Liu’s 32nd birthday nonetheless!
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings Official Teaser Trailer
Marvel Studios has officially released the first trailer for the 25th movie in the MCU, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The trailer is just over two minutes long, and can be seen below:
As is usually the case for first trailers within the MCU, this one doesn’t reveal a ton of information in terms of action or story. However, it does tease a wild new adventure with the franchise’s first foray into the world of martial arts.
Much of the story appears to be focused on Shang-Chi’s difficult relationship with his father, Wenwu, thanks to the dialogue by Tony Leung’s character. It was confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 that Wenwu would be revealed as the MCU’s true Mandarin, not only helping address fan backlash after the Iron Man 3 fakeout, but also adding a whole new layer of intrigue into the MCU.
Along with this relationship, the action looks to be some that has never been seen before within the MCU. Simu Liu has been teasing his material arts prowess for most of the past year during filming for the movie, and it’s clear that he will be a force to be reckoned with through the course of his first MCU adventure.
This movie appears to have everything in terms of action and story, and fans are already pumped to see what will go down in terms of the actual plot as the release date draws closer. For now, this trailer is already racking up thousands of views, which will only continue over the next few days.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will release in theaters on September 3, 2021. What did you think of the first trailer for Shang-Chi? Let us know in the comment section below or over on our social media!
