Deadline reports that Mads Mikkelsen is set to co-star opposite Harrison Ford and Phoebe Waller-Bridge in Indiana Jones 5.

Just last week, we got the news that Phoebe Waller-Bridge was set to join Indiana Jones 5 opposite Harrison Ford as the female lead, and today we learn the movie’s villain is none other than Mads Mikkelsen!

Deadline reports that Mads Mikkelsen is set to co-star opposite Ford and Waller-Bridge in the fifth installment of the franchise.

Indiana Jones 5 will mark the 5th major film franchise Mikkelsen has been a part of, a list which includes Star Wars, James Bond, the MCU, and the Wizarding World.

Mads Mikkelsen has had a banner year, replacing Johny Depp in as Grindlewald in the third film in the Wizarding World film series Fantastic Beasts. He also starred in critically acclaimed Danish film Another Round, my favorite movie of 2020, which scored him a BAFTA nom for Best Actor, and the film took home the award for Best Film Not in the English Language. Another Round is also up for Best Director and Best International Feature at the Academy Awards on April 25th.

Indiana Jones 5 will be directed by James Mangold (Ford v. Ferrari) taking over for Steven Spielberg, who remains on the production as producer alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel. John Williams is also set to return to compose the film’s score. Production is due to begin this summer and the film is set to be released July 29th, 2022.
