Action and stunts were a topic of discussion at the worldwide virtual press conference for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Less than one week remains until Marvel Studios releases their second Phase 4 project with Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Coming in as a far more grounded property than the previously released WandaVision early in the year, Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes are set for an adventure unlike any either of them have seen before.

While the plot of this show is still relatively unknown, Falcon and Bucky will be continuing the Captain America legacy after Steve Rogers’ retirement, and possibly his death. In that light, there will certainly be the usual fair share of classic MCU action sequences, as the reluctant duo takes on bad guys like Daniel Brühl’s Helmut Zemo and the mysterious Flag Smashers.

Anthony Mackie On The Physical Stunt Work Found In The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

That action was a topic of discussion in the worldwide virtual press conference for this show, which featured Kevin Feige, director Kari Skogland, head writer Malcolm Spellman, along with series stars Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan. The Illuminerdi was fortunate to be included as part of the press for this event , which provided some intriguing information to chew on.

Anthony Mackie said the following when asked about the stunt work that went into making The Falcon and the Winter Soldier a reality:

“The great thing about what we were able to do with nothing was water-down in the stunts because of that the stunts are amazing. There’s more physical and hand-to-hand combat,. We utilize our natural strengths. We did a lot of stunt training and some of the stuff you see is us.”

As was the case with the Captain America trilogy, Marvel Studios has put forth some of the premiere action sequences, not only in the MCU, but in the action genre as a whole. This appears to be continuing in full with Marvel Studios’ second Disney+ series as it begins this week.

Sam and Bucky are both more than capable of handling themselves against an assorted variety of bad guys, of which they will see plenty in their solo series. With Sam’s wings and Bucky’s new vibranium arm both fully powered up, expect to see some of the best action and combat scenes in a while as Phase 4 enters its earliest stages.

As fans have seen so far in the trailers, Sam and Bucky will be all over the place as they fly around canyons, hang off moving trucks, and simply lay down their fair share of kicks and punches. The most interesting part will be seeing how they use their talents as a duo, all while learning how to simply work together and tolerate each other as people.

All will start to be revealed when The Falcon and the Winter Soldier premieres on March 19, 2021. What are you most excited to see in Marvel’s new show? Let us know in the comment section below or over on our social media!
