Everyone’s favorite Merc with a Mouth actor Ryan Reynolds, may have given us the original plot of Deadpool 3 before the Disney acquisition of 20th Century Fox. Reynolds took to Twitter to help promote positive mental health discussion, and to garner the attention of his followers to retweet the #BellLetsTalk hashtag, he revealed the plot for Deadpool 3 at Fox. The actor said the movie would’ve had Deadpool teaming up with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine on a road trip together.
A Rashomon style film for Deadpool 3 would’ve made a great trope for the sequel. Wade explaining to Logan how they ended up on the road or why they are together, sounds like a missed opportunity. It’s unfortunate that we won’t get to see the two characters banter with each other, and the audience, as Wade breaks the fourth wall to confuse Logan even more.
It’s well-known that Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have had a great bond and excellent chemistry together. The two actors have been in a fake feud since they met on set of X-men: Origins. The good news is that Reynolds and Jackman are friends in real life. Shame we won’t get to see the two actors share the same screen as their comic book counterpart, considering Reynolds always nods to Wolverine in every Deadpool film.
Ryan Reynolds Isn’t Joking About Deadpool 3’s Plot
It’s possible that Reynolds could be fooling us as he loves to do on social media from time to time. However, when Screen Rant tweeted out that he’s joking about the Deadpool 3 plot, he insisted that he wasn’t joking about it.
It makes you wonder what exactly Kevin Feige has in store for Deadpool when he finally makes his MCU debut. Feige hasn’t mentioned when Deadpool 3 will be released, but it looks like it’s not happening anytime soon –especially with the current lineup of the MCU. It would be incredible to see Deadpool make cameos throughout future Marvel projects, similar to how the late and great Stan Lee made an appearance in every film until Avengers: Endgame.
The good news is that Deadpool 3 will continue its mature content rating with Disney. While having Jackman back to play as Wolverine sounds like a dream come true. It’s unlikely we will ever see that version come to life, particularly since the X-Men will be getting the MCU treatment and Jackman has since retired from his role as Logan.
Since Marvel is now exploring the idea of alterative universes within their films, maybe we’ll get Wade Wilson messing around with the Avengers and the X-Men sooner than later. Who knows? Perhaps the MCU version of Deadpool 3 will keep some of the plot points. It would be funny to see Deadpool breaking the fourth wall and calling out Marvel’s new version of Wolverine for not being Hugh Jackman.
