She-Hulk, the upcoming Disney+ series has cast Ginger Gonzaga in a strong supporting role.
Ginger Gonzaga (The Morning After, Kidding, I’m Dying Up Here) has joined Tatiana Maslany, Tim Roth and Mark Ruffalo in the cast of She-Hulk, according to a report from Deadline. The series, which will be directed by Kat Coiro and Anu Valia, is slated to film in the first quarter of 2021. The only detail about Gonzaga’s character revealed in the report is that she will be playing the best friend of Maslany’s Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk.
Who Could Ginger Gonzaga Be Playing in She-Hulk?
In November, we exclusively reported that casting was underway for several characters, including the best friend of Jen. The character was codenamed “Susie”, though this name may be a simple placeholder. The casting team was looking for a person of color in their thirties to play “Susie”. Ginger Gonzaga fits that bill to a tee, and we at The Illuminerdi eagerly await her performance.
She-Hulk is expected to arrive in 2022, and has been described as a legal comedy by Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige. It will follow a similar format to WandaVision, utilizing an approximately 10-episode season, with the episodes running for roughly 30 minutes each.
Other characters expected to appear in the upcoming TV series include Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones, Jennifer Walter’s parents, and a villain codenamed “Lucy”. The name “Lucy” may be a placeholder. The villain is a Kardashian-esque social media influencer type.
