Godzilla vs Kong has no trailer in sight, but now a new toy commercial has given us a preview of the epic battle in the form of action figures.
The MonsterVerse brawl promises to be one of the biggest blockbusters of this year, yet there hasn’t been any new information as of late. Not even a simple teaser.
The movie has been riddled with delays and it’s possible the lack of marketing for the movie suggests it might release on HBO Max. Back in December, it was reported that Warner Bros. may have to pay $250 million to Legendary for streaming their film.
Godzilla vs Kong Big Fight Preview
Now we get our first notable news on the big showdown has come from a commercial for figurines. The first look into Godzilla Vs. Kong was released through Kaiju New Outlet on their Twitter account, showing off the two monsters in their action figure form. The character figures are made by Playmates Toys, who usually create toys for a younger audience.
The commercial uses movie footage from Godzilla: King of The Monsters and Kong: Skull Island alongside the toys to convey a battle royal between the two monsters. The footage in the toy commercial make sense for its marketing, in an effort to get children excited for the Godzilla vs Kong and their figurines.
Legendary Pictures probably didn’t want the first images from the film revealed in this commercial, especially before it gets a proper trailer debut. It’s worth noting that in April of last year, a toy leaked spoiled a new character coming to the MonsterVerse.
A trailer could be on the horizon if the film meets its May release. So far, the official synopsis for an upcoming novelization for Godzilla Vs. Kong has teased an all-out war between the two titans. For now, the wait continues and the next best thing to do is to enjoy the epic battle in toy format, until the studio releases the real thing.
Godzilla vs Kong will release in 2021. Who do you think is going to win the brawl? Let us know in the comment section below or over on Twitter!
