British comedian John Bishop is stepping into the TARDIS for the 13th series (the word for “season” in the UK) of long-running sci-fi show Doctor Who. The show currently stars Jodie Whittaker in the titular role.
Recently, we saw the final appearances of Bradley Walsh’s Graham and Tosin Cole’s Ryan. In their absence, we know that Bishop will join Mandip Gill’s Yaz and Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor for more sci-fi adventures across space and time itself as a character named Dan.
And Introducing John Bishop
Bishop spoke about his casting in a statement via Deadline. He said:
“If I could tell my younger self that one day I would be asked to step on board the TARDIS, I would never have believed it,” said Bishop. “It’s an absolute dream come true to be joining Doctor Who and I couldn’t wish for better company than Jodie [Whittaker] and Mandip [Gill].”
Doctor Who initially aired for 28 seasons from 1963-1989 and was rebooted in 2005. During the rebooted series, Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi, and Jodie Whittaker have taken the reigns of the TARDIS for fans across the world. Many of the Doctor’s companions have achieved fame in their own right, including Karen Gillan (Amy Pond), Catherine Tate (Donna Noble), Billie Piper (Rose Tyler), and Freema Agyeman (Martha Jones).
