Riddle has resigned with WWE following contract negotiations, but Riddle wasn’t planning on staying with WWE at one point.
Dave Meltzer released some details on Riddle’s contract negotiations via the Wrestling Observer newsletter. However, Fightful’s premium page, Fightful Select, went into more detail regarding Riddle’s resigning.
Riddle Said “No Deal”…Get It? Like The Show
FightFul Select was able to verify and confirm the recent rumor that Riddle was not planning on resigning with WWE. Apparently, the original offer was not to Riddle’s liking. It was not revealed what the wrestler originally had a problem with. However, it could have not been about the amount of money or perhaps he did not like the length of the contract.
Riddle’s contract had reportedly expired in August as he signed with WWE in 2018, but continued to wrestle as he and WWE worked out the terms of his new deal.

When WWE first offered Riddle his recent contract, it was expected by most that he would sign by the end of the year. WWE adjusted the contract (hopefully included a rematch clause) and Riddle signed his new deal last week.
Riddle’s New Deal
Meltzer reported that Riddle is now the proud new owner of a shiny new three-year contract. Riddle will be making $400,000 a year, amounting to a total of $1.2 million in the next three years. To add the cherry on top he will make an additional $50,000 for every show he wrestles over in Saudi Arabia.
Jeff Hardy And Riddle AKA The Hardy BROS
Currently Riddle has been tagging with Jeff Hardy. WWE looks to be pushing the team and keeping them together for a little while longer. Recently WWE has trademarked “Hardy Boys” which may be for Jeff and Matt (Riddle). Personally I’d trademark “Hardy BROS,” but what do I know?

The pair have an interesting dynamic with both being over-the-top and flamboyant. Both have a lot of charisma and are well liked, well by the fans at least in Riddle’s case. However, Riddle’s legit shoot background leads to Riddle manhandling their opponents while Hardy Swanton Bombs for the win. Hopefully Hardy can give Riddle some pointers on longevity as Hardy has been around since the late ‘90s and Riddle’s only 34 years old.
Riddle’s Past and Future Feuds?
Riddle started his WWE career where almost all new talent starts, in NXT. He spent two years there gaining fans and flipping his flip flops at the fans. However, in October he flipped those flops on the main roster after being drafted to RAW. Since his debut he has had some high profile matches and feuds with the likes of King Corbin and AJ Styles. Riddle never fails to have exciting and solid matches.

However, I would love to see Riddle wrestle and start feuding with other shooters like Shinsuke Nakamura and Brock Lesnar. I would love to see Riddle in a tough and brutal match with someone who can stiff him back a little bit.
