NXT Star Adam Cole Goes Off On Pat McAfee During Intense Interview

Adam Cole decided he was not going to take anymore disrespect from former NFL star Pat McAfee.

2020 has been tough for everyone all around the world and tensions continue to mount as people look to next navigate the second half of the year. With several sports and entertainment outlets left to scramble, many involved in these fields are likely feeling the pressure a bit. Particularly, former NXT Adam Cole may be suffering some uncertainty and anxiety following the loss of his precious NXT Championship to Keith Lee after a 403-day reign on top.

This week, Cole was a featured guest on The Pat McAfee Show. The sports talk show usually features an in-depth discussion on a bevy of topics and often sprinkles in some light-hearted jabs and fun along the way. However, during this particular episode, things got a bit tense between interviewer and interviewee.

After some condescending remarks from McAfee regarding Adam Cole’s career, accomplishments, and even his size, Cole decided he was not going to take anymore disrespect from the former NFL star.

Adam Cole vs Pat McAfee

Take a look at the video below. Keep in mind, this is professional wrestling and it could easily be a work (scripted) to further a storyline within the confines of WWE’s fictional world.

Cole: “You’re being a total dick right now. I find it so ironic that of all people to say that I surrounded myself with really great talent, and that’s the reason I succeeded – of all people, you? A punter? You were on a team that literally did everything, and you just happened to kick the football every now and then.”

McAfee: “I was the player of the decade at my position in the NFL. Although I was surrounded by good people, it was just me and the ball.”

Cole: “I was the longest reigning NXT Champion of all time. And guess who did that all by themselves? Me. I did it all by myself.

McAfee: “I don’t believe that. We’ve watched the Takeovers, Adam. The Undisputed Era is the main reason why you’ve succeeded. And that’s good business. Especially for you, because you’re kind of small.”

Cole: “F*** you Pat. Seriously, I’m sick of your s***. I come the whole way here, take time away from my family to come here to your stupid f***ing show. And you’re going to continue to disrespect me? F*** you.”

The showdown was intense and extremely not safe for work. Longtime fans will find similarities between what happened here and moments seen in the past. Incidents involved Randy Orton and Vader putting their hands-on interviewers following accusations about the legitimacy of the sport can be found with a simple search on Youtube. Additionally, Adam Cole and Pat McAfee have had issues in the past on NXT television with a few arguments ensuing on-air during pre-show conversations.

It’s not entirely clear whether or not the confrontation is real or fake. However, McAfee and his producer Ty Schmit took to Twitter to comment on what happened and condemn Adam Cole for his actions.

The former NXT Champion has remained mum on social media since the incident occurred and fans have debated it on social media for the last several days. Whether or not you believe it to be real or not, it has both Pat McAfee and Adam Cole trending worldwide. Perhaps Triple H is open to promoting a match between the two at the upcoming NXT Takeover event in August.

What do you think? Was Adam Cole right to react to McAfee’s jabs? Is this leading to a wrestling match? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and on social media @The_Illuminerdi.
