Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios are presently developing a Nova solo project.
Marvel Studios is gearing up right now for it’s most massive slate of productions in the franchise’s history. After the coronavirus delays have come to an end, hopefully in the near future, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will kick back into gear again with the theatrical release of Black Widow this November.
This will open up Phase 4 of the MCU, the biggest phase yet, which consists of at least eight confirmed movies in theaters and eight new mini-series premiering on Disney+.
While Disney and Marvel do have plenty on their plate for the present, the two entertainment moguls always seem to have their eye on the future. The Illuminerdi has just gained some new information on one of their most anticipated future projects, and we’re here to share with you what we know!
Nova Is Coming
According to a recent listing, Marvel Studios is in the early stages of planning a project centered around Nova. This could be either a solo movie or a TV show, while our source’s best bet is that it’s a movie in the MCU’s future slate for Phase 5 or later. However, there was no absolute confirmation, as it could be fluid presently. Marvel head Kevin Feige is indeed listed as the sole producer, while no other talent is formally attached at moment.
Nova is a character that fans have been wanting in the MCU ever since the franchise went cosmic, and this is a huge step forward in bringing him to life no matter where he comes in. Ever since the Guardians of the Galaxy came into play six years ago, fans have made their voices heard wanting Nova to join the fight.
The Nova Corps was an important part of the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, and it only seems right that they would bring in Richard Rider in at some point during the series. It will be interesting to see exactly how they work him into the MCU, taking into consideration the destruction of Xandar in Avengers: Infinity War, but his skillset and powers will undoubtedly come in handy in the future.
Nova’s superpowers include flight, superhuman strength, speed, and durability. He has also been known in the comics to have possession of the Xandarian Worldmine, which allows him almost unlimited control of the Nova Force and grants him energy projection and absorption.
There are a number of places to possibly introduce Nova in the MCU. Having him feature in his own mini-series on Disney+ could help debut the cosmic side of the MCU on the small screen since all of the new mini-series are Earth-based thus far. He could also be introduced or teased in Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 before he makes a bigger appearance in his own solo movie.
With no other information attached to the project other than the name, we will have to wait and see where Nova makes his ultimate debut in the MCU, but it’s unbelievably exciting nonetheless! Let’s talk about this in the comment section below and on our social media!
