David Yost Would Return To Power Rangers For A Full Season Mentor Role: But Which Would Be A Good Fit?

David Yost has recently done an Instagram live video where he stated that he would come back to Power Rangers if it were a full season mentor role.

Some Unadapted Seasons David Yost Could Appear In

While it’s possible that David Yost could appear in the currently untitled 28th season of Power Rangers, which is being adapted from Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger, I don’t find that very likely as he would already be in talks for the series. It’s also likely that if he were to return for that season he would probably return as one of the Master Rangers. However, Master Blue only appeared in two episodes of Sentai, so it’s unlikely Yost would say yes.

With that being said, there are plenty of other currently adapted seasons that David Yost could return in sometime in the future. Here are a few:

ToQger

Everyone hop on the Power Rangers Express, this is your conductor Billy Cranston speaking!

Alright before you click off, let me explain. I think this could be a great idea for a full-season David Yost return. The conductor is very important character in the source material, so I feel that Yost would be willing to return due to the character’s importance to the show.

The Conductor is, of course, a pretty goofy character in ToQger. However, this is an adaptation, so Billy’s iteration does not have to be as over the top as The Conductor was in ToQger.

It’s also worth mentioning that in Ressha Sentai ToQger Returns: Super ToQ 7gou of Dreams the conductor becomes the Purple Ranger of the team. This would be awesome to see in Power Rangers as Billy didn’t really get another form besides his original and the Ninja powers from Season 3.

Zyuohger

Alright so maybe not exactly THAT but I still think Billy in a possible Zyuohger adaption could work in Power Rangers.

In Zyuohger Mario Mori was completely oblivious to the fact that the people always at his house were the Zyuogers the whole time until later in the season. Instead of this Billy could maybe have a nephew similar to Zyuohger who gains access to ranger powers and Billy has to teach his nephew and his friends how to harness their new power.

Maybe even instead of a nephew, he has a niece and Sela’s counterpart in Power Rangers could be an Aquatian due to Billy moving to Aquitar at the end of Power Rangers Zeo.

Kyuranger

Ah yes, the constantly robbed Kyuranger. Once again donning the color purple I think Billy showing up in a Kyuranger adaptation is definitely possible and is personally my favorite backstory I’ve come up with thus far.

As I’m sure most of you know, Billy left near the end of Power Rangers Zeo to live on the alien planet Aquitar. This means that Billy has been in space for quite a while now. Billy is also of course one of the smartest rangers in history so it’s highly possible that he was able to come up with his own space force and maybe even create the powers that these new rangers would eventually get their hands on.

While it doesn’t seem likely that Hasbro is willing to adapt Kyuranger this is definitely a missed opportunity in my opinion if they don’t do something like this. Billy is a character that left the show too soon and I feel that something like this would finally be able to do the character justice.

I’m sure you guys are getting ready to say “Hey! You forgot Lupin vs Pat and Kiramager“! Yes, I did skip those two. I just didn’t feel that the character of Billy really fit into the plot of what those seasons would probably be. Coming up with storylines for those two seasons would have been pretty big stretches, in my opinion.

What do you guys think about the possibility of David Yost reprising his role as Billy in a mentor role for a full season? Let us know in the comments below and be sure to come back to The Illuminerdi for more Power Rangers news!
