Who doesn’t remember the songs, the dance numbers, and the cast of the original West Side Story when it came to the big screen? Now a new generation will have their version of the classic tale in modern times.

Film legend Steven Spielberg has long wanted to direct a musical and looks as if he is bringing his A game to this. West Side Story was filmed on studio backlot streets, but you will definitely feel like you’ve walked back in time. The movie is set to honor the musical theater genre in a huge way with dance numbers, bright costumes, and streets full of color.

New and Familiar Faces of The West Side Story Remake

Based on new pictures recently released by People En Espanol, this cast will bring the passion and fun of the love story between Tony and Maria.

There are three pics so far that gives us a look at the remake. The first picture in our preview is a shot of the new Sharks gang jumping like jackrabbits in the air.

The next features Rita Moreno, who played the Anita in the original 1961 film. She is now in the role of Valentina, who will be a new approach to the character. Moreno won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her performance, so her casting is nice tribute by Spielberg. Valentina is rumored to be a reimagining of the Doc role from the original.
