The one studio which is benefiting the most in this global pandemic is Netflix, which continues to release new content. Extraction is a new original film by Netflix, starring Chris Hemsworth in the leading role, which releases this month. Today, Netflix premiered a brand-new trailer for the action movie.
Hemsworth is headed to streaming service in a lead role for the first time. He reunited with the directors of Avengers: Endgame for this movie. This war thriller film is directed by Sam Hargrave and co-produced by Hemsworth, along with Joe and Anthony Russo, while Joe Russo penned the script for the movie. Also involved are Mike LaRocca (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), and Atomic Blonde producers Eric Gitter and Peter Schwerin.
Sam Hargrave is making his directorial feature debut with this Netflix original, but he’s very familiar with big-budget movies and action sequences. He started out as a stunt coordinator and has worked with the Russo brothers on Captain America: Winter Soldier, Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Endgame. He also served as a second unit director on Infinity War and Endgame and as a stunt double for Chris Evans for few films.
Previously titled Dhaka, after the capital city of Bangladesh. Extraction follows the story of Tyler Rake (Hemsworth) a fearless black market mercenary who has nothing left to lose when his skills are solicited to rescue the kidnapped son of an imprisoned international crime lord. But in the murky underworld of weapons dealers and drug traffickers, an already deadly mission approaches the impossible, forever altering the lives of Rake and the boy.
Extraction is extensively shot in India and has a lot of top-tier actors from both Hollywood and Bollywood, including David Harbour (Stranger Things), Golshifteh Farahani (Paterson), Randeep Hooda (Highway), Derek Luke (13 Reasons Why), Manoj Bajpayee (The Family Man), Pankaj Tripathi (Gangs of Wasseypur), and newcomer Rudhraksh Jaiswal. Thor star Hemsworth is known for his action roles and adding Black Widow star David Harbour to the mix makes things much interesting. This film contains insane action which we should not miss.
Chris Hemsworth is ready to show his special set of action skills as we can see in the trailer. The action shown looks very interesting and promising given the director’s amazing stunt career. Hemsworth character looks rough and tough. Tyler Rake is a weathered mercenary who has to set out on his most dangerous mission yet.
The God of Thunder himself dominated the trailer, but it also concentrates on Golshifteh Farahani and Rudhraksh Jaiswal’s characters. David Harbor, Randeep Hooda, and Pankaj Tripathi popped up only for a few shots. While Manoj Bajpayee is not shown in the trailer, maybe he’s only briefly in the movie.
In order to make up for his inability to come to India and meet his fans, the Avengers actor recorded a video message shared by Netflix via Twitter. He apologized to his fans for not being able to come to India to promote the film due to the novel crisis. He said:
“Namaste India. Chris Hemsworth here, coming to you all the way from Australia. As you may have heard, I was incredibly excited to come to India and to celebrate this movie where it was filmed. My time in your country during production was unforgettable and I was so looking forward to returning…But you know what’s happening in the world at the moment. I, like you, am staying home. I know things are not easy right now for everyone, so I wanted to share something I hope you all will enjoy.”
He then revealed that the trailer of the film will be released on Tuesday, April 7th.
The team-up of Russos and Hemsworth definitely is a reason for interest. This feels like a Marvel reunion with Thor, the Russo’s, David Harbour.
Extraction releases on Netflix on April 24. Are you excited to see Chris Hemsworth doing heavy stunts in a movie like this? Will you watch Extraction when it debuts on Netflix? Let us know in the comments below.
