Fan-favorite DC character Barbara Gordon will appear in Titans third season, as confirmed in a recent Facebook Q&A with series director and cinematographer Boris Mojsovski. The iconic member of the bat-family has gone by the aliases of both Batgirl and Oracle in the past.

Batgirl fought alongside Batman and the other members of Bruce Wayne’s crime fighting adoptive family for years. While in her adult life she, as Oracle, she fought crime with her intellect from the sidelines, as a tech expert after The Joker left her wheelchair-bound.

Which Barbara Gordon Will Really Be Joining Titans?

Whether Barbara will be seen playing Oracle or Batgirl in Titans has not been confirmed, but we can safely assume that she will already be an established crime fighter, judging by Jason Todd’s reference to her in season one. The likelihood that her appearance is an origin of sorts is unlikely, which is probably for the best considering how many characters Titans is already juggling.

The other big question is just how large of a role will Babs play in the future of Titans? Will she be a supporting character who only interacts with Jason and Dick, or could she join the ranks of the eponymous team? Until more information about season three is released, speculation is all we have to work with.

Batgirl appeared in the maligned Batman and Robin movie and Oracle appeared in the short-lived Birds Of Prey CW series. Despite playing a lead role in both franchises, Barbara Gordon failed to make a strong impact on the fans in either of her previous live action incarnations. Hopefully Titans can finally craft a definitive and beloved take on Barbara.

Barbara Gordon Confirmed For Titans Season 3 Debut - The Illuminerdi

The confirmation of her arrival on the show is exciting news not only for fans of the character and TV series, it’s also a sign of progress at DC. Warner Brothers had previously restricted Titans from accessing the character. Some have speculated that the lack of Barbara Gordon in Dick Grayson’s story resulted in Dawn Granger filling Robin’s romantic void in the script. Their decision to give Titans access to Barbara Gordon is just another recent example of DC breaking down their self-imposed barriers.

Barbara Gordon’s is a welcome addition to the world of Titans, a series with an increasingly bright future. Seeing Nightwing and Babs interact in a live-action format is a dream come true for many fans, as well as a confirmation of previous rumors. Since no casting has been announced yet, perhaps it’s not too late to give Karen Gillan a call. The actress famous for playing Nebula in the MCU has expressed her interest in playing the role, and we think she’d be a great fit.

Will Barbara Gordon appear as Oracle or Batwing? Would Karen Gillan be a good fit for the character? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below or on our social media!
