Netflix has ordered a new Angry Birds series set to debut worldwide next year. Angry Birds: Summer Madness will be the latest collaboration between long term partners Cake and Rovio.

The Angry Birds Franchise

Angry Birds is a hugely successful franchise which started in 2009. Initially released as a mobile video game it has come to include multiple spin-offs and two feature length movies (The Angry Birds Movie 2 actually went on to become 2019’s highest rated video game adaption on Rotten Tomatoes.)

Earlier this month Angry Birds Casual was soft launched for Mobile and it looks like it’s a return to the classic formula and a back-to-basics, entry level game for the franchise. It sure looks like demand for the franchise is as high as it ever was.

Netflix announced the new series via their Twitter account on Wednesday. They appear to have ordered 40 episodes, each 11 minutes in length. We can look forward to the return of Red, Bomb, and Chuck, as they battle the pigs whilst enjoying summer camp.

Knowing the franchise, there will be lots of pranks and jokes to keep everyone entertained. The most interesting looks to be Mighty Eagle, the camp’s counsellor. This will be the first time that the characters will appear in a long- form series. Along with the favorites, there will be a host of new characters to discover as well.

Although a specific date has yet to be announced (especially amongst all the current uncertainty with Covid-19 and Netflix shutting down current US and Canadian productions.) I am sure we can look forward to lots of new and familiar antics from the feathered friends in Angry Birds: Summer Camp Madness.
