Transformers Brings The Siege

Transformers: War for Cybertron: Siege is the first in a trilogy of Transformers series coming to Netflix. The story is as follows:

“Transformers: War For Cybertron Trilogy: Siege begins in the final hours of the devastating civil war between the Autobots and Decepticons. The war that has torn apart their home planet of Cybertron is at a tipping point. Two leaders, Optimus Prime and Megatron, both want to save their world and unify their people, but only on their own terms.

In an attempt to end the conflict, Megatron is forced to consider using the Allspark, the source of all life and power on Cybertron, to “reformat” the Autobots, thus “unifying” Cybertron. Outnumbered, outgunned, and under SIEGE, the battle-weary Autobots orchestrate a desperate series of counterstrikes on a mission that, if everything somehow goes right, will end with an unthinkable choice: kill their planet in order to save it.”

A similar series was released by Machinima from 2016-2018 known as the Transformers: Prime Wars trilogy. After the conclusion of the Prime Wars trilogy in 2018, Hasbro and Machinima announced the War for Cybertron trilogy, however, after the closure of Machinima in 2019 it was announced the series would be released on Netflix in 2020.

This new trailer shows a much darker version of the Transformers than a lot of fans are probably used to. The animation style alone goes to show that this will not be “just another” series for the anthropomorphic robots. The show seems to be very dark with its concept of all-out war and destruction to become victorious in an epic battle between the Autobots and Decepticons.

“Seige” will consist of six episodes running at around 22 minutes each. The second phase of the War of Cybertron trilogy “Earthrise” will commence sometime after the release of this year’s “Siege”, with a yet to be titled third part also planned.

The cast of The War for Cybertron: Siege includes: Jake Foushee as Optimus Prime, Jason Marnocha as Megatron, Linsay Rousseau as Elita-1, Joe Zieja as Bumblebee, Frank Todaro as Starscream, Rafael Goldstein as Ratchet, Keith Silverstein as Jetfire, Todd Haberkorn as Shockwave/Red Alert, Edward Bosco as Ultra Magnus/Soundwave, Bill Rogers as Wheeljack, Sophia Isabella as Arcee, Brook Chalmers as Impactor, Shawn Hawkins as Mirage, Kaiser Johnson as Ironhide, with Miles Luna as Teletraan I/Cliffjumper, and Mark Whitten as Sideswipe/Skywarp.

Netflix still has yet to announce the release date for Transformers: The War for Cybertron: Siege, but be sure to check back into The Illuminerdi for updates on the new series and everything else related to Transformers!
