Recent on-set photos give fans their first good look at the Batsuit and Batcycle, from Matt Reeve’s highly-anticipated, The Batman.

Holy leaked images Batman! Between last year’s Joker and James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, leaks for DC movies are finding their way onto the interwebs. Last week, the The Batman’s co-writer and director Matt Reeves, released an official first look at Pattinson in the batsuit in a brief, crimson-red filtered video scored by composer Michael Giacchino.

The movie is currently being filmed at the Glasgow Necropolis Cemetery in Scotland, which should give Gotham City a gothic feel that it needs. Some unauthorized leaked images, along with a 12-second video, were recently taken during the outdoor on-location shoot. Take a look at some of the first images of the Batcycle and the full Batsuit in motion.

The images were taken by a onlooker and reveals what appears to be a stunt person performing as Batman – played by Robert Pattinson in the film – in the full Batman suit. Additionally, the stuntman is sitting on what clearly looks like the Batcycle. Both the Batsuit and Batcycle appear even more gritty than Christopher Nolan’s hyper-realistic, Dark Knight vision of the Caped Crusader.

Another video shot from the set, also leaked to Twitter, in which Batman drives the Batcycle alongside another motorcycle – hopefully ridden by Catwoman played by Zoë Kravitz – before appearing to crash it.

The costume appears to be a more bit clunky than previous Batman films’ outfits. However, we’ve seen similar looking stunt costumes before and often they aren’t as good looking ultimately, as the prime costumes worn by the actors. So this certainly could be a similar situation. There also appears to be no cape which could mean they plan to add it in post with CGI.

The look and setting in the most recent images also looks a little like DC Comics storyline “Batman: Zero Year,” which reimagined the superhero’s origin. In it, he contends with a variety of his most notable villains, including the Riddler who terrorizes Gotham City. Additionally. we have another set photo from the other day that reveals a “Long Halloween” influence:

While this iteration of the character follows Ben Affleck’s take on the Batman character, it’s not in the same continuity. Affleck’s fight from the Batman v Superman warehouse scene, may possibly take the crown for being the best Batman action sequence since The Dark Knight. A majority of the movie received mixed reviews, however this scene is seen as a highlight for the hero on screen.

The bar has been set high for Pattinson as Batman. It’s been rumored that Reeves is planning on focusing on the detective aspects for this version of Gotham’s Knight. This could lead to a fresher take and further differentiate this iteration from Snyder, Nolan, and Tim Burton’s versions of Batman.

It’s directed by Matt Reeves, who also co-wrote alongside Mattson Tomlin for Warner Bros. So what do you think of the new Batsuit?
