Director Matt Reeves has shared test footage from his highly anticipated The Batman film on social media, which gives us an exciting first look at Robert Pattinson in his batsuit.
What Does The Batman Footage Show?
The brief footage shows Batman in a dimly red lit room, with a close up of the bat symbol on his chest and the camera moving up to reveal Batman’s cowl.
The footage also provides a preview of what we can expect from composer Michael Giacchino for the film.
There is some speculation on Twitter that the bat symbol is made out of the same gun that was used to kill Bruce Wayne’s parents. This references a moment in Detective Comics #1000, which was written by Kevin Smith and Jim Lee.
It’s hard to tell what the colors of the suit truly are. However Thomas Polito, from Geeks Worldwide, stated in a now deleted tweet in January that the suit could potentially be blue and grey.
Reeves could be taking a page out of Todd Phillips’ book, who released test footage on social media to reveal the first look of Joaquin Phoenix as The Joker, not long before they filmed outdoors. So we could be getting a better look at Batman in action and his batsuit very soon.
WHAT ELSE DO WE KNOW ABOUT THE BATMAN?
Reeves is directing the film and has written the screenplay along with Mattson Tomlin.
The Wrap reports that The Batman will explore Bruce Wayne’s second year as the Dark Knight.
The Batman will be coming head to head with some of his most famous foes from his rogue’s gallery. Zoe Kravitz will play Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Paul Dano will be Edward Nashton/The Riddler, Colin Farrell will become The Penguin, John Turturro will play mobster Carmine Falcone, and Peter Saarsgard will be Wasserman.
Andy Serkis will play Bruce Wayne’s loyal butler Alfred Pennyworth and Jeffrey Wright will be playing Commissioner Gordon. Jayme Lawson has been cast in an undisclosed role.
The Batman is currently in production in the United Kingdom and is expected to release in theatres June 25, 2021. What do you think of the new Batsuit? Let us know in the comments below!
