Flair’s Thoughts On Rousey’s WWE Career

Flair was asked about what she thought about Ronda Rousey’s transition in WWE.

“Just because you’re a great athlete doesn’t mean that you’re going to be the biggest superstar ever. You have to connect with the audience on an emotional level.  And that’s what she did right off the bat.”

According to Flair, the key to Rousey’s success was that she knew exactly who she was and picked things up quickly.  She didn’t try to come in to the WWE and be something she wasn’t and was authentic in the ring. Flair hopes that she will be able to work with Rousey again in the future.

Andrade’s Transition To The WWE Style

Andrade was known for wrestling a lucha style and was asked if transitioning into the slower and more promo focused WWE style was difficult.  The fact that Andrade had wrestled all over the world and came in experienced made the change an easy one.

“Wasn’t so much of a change because I’ve had many matches.  The generally big places in the world, the big countries for pro wrestling or lucha libre are Mexico, USA, Japan and UK. And now WWE is in all countries and it’s different.”

Andrade’s WWE Performance Center Challenges And Frustrations

Some of the top wrestlers in the world have walked the WWE Performance Center and praised it, but Andrade talks about the challenges he faced there.  The first thing he brings up is the schedule the students on put on. Andrade is used to having free time to do whatever he wants during the day, but WWE has a set schedule for the students.  At 8 a.m. he went to the Performance Center gym, promo, wrestling class and English class.  Andrade said he was at the Performance Center from 8 to 5 or 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday or Friday and by the end of the day he was exhausted.

Another understandable challenge for Andrade was the imbalance of experience levels.

“When you would workout with the guys who have never wrestled in their life? I’ve been wrestling for nine years in this moment and some of these guys don’t know a wrist lock, or waist lock or head lock.  I stay in the corner and say, ‘Ugh! Three hours?’ Because the class is three hours.”

Andrade admitted that Norman Smiley would have to calm him down when he was frustrated with how inexperienced his co-students were.

We here at TheIlluminerdi want to extend our deepest congratulations on the couple’s engagement.  The couple seem to have good chemistry and hopefully it will be a wrestling marriage which lasts forever.
